History

1889-1973

Nintendo was founded on 1889/9/23, by Fusajiro Yamauchi, starting as a playing card producer.

In 1929, Nintendo experienced it's first leadership transition when Fusajiro Yamauchi stepped down & his son-in-law, Sekiryo Yamauchi, took on the role as president.

On 1940/1/1, Fusajiro Yamauchi died of a stroke at the age of 80.

In 1948, Sekiryo Yamauchi would suffer a near-death stroke. Because of his health, he arranged for his grandson, then 21 year old Hiroshi Yamauchi, to take his role & become the third president of Nintendo on 1949/4/25. Sekiryo Yamauchi would die on 1949/2/2 at the age of ~65.

In 1959, Nintendo made a partnership with Disney to make it's characters into playing cards. This choice was successful enough that Nintendo chose to become a public company in 1962. Nintendo made ¥150,000,000 of revenue in 1964.

1973-2002

In 1973, Nintendo released the Laser Clay Shooting System, Nintendo's first arcade game.

In 1974, Nintendo released Wild Gunman, an electro-mechanical arcade game, which was adapted for the NES in 1985.

On 2002/5/24, Hiroshi Yamauchi would step down as president & Satoru Iwata became the fourth president of Nintendo.
